Our annual JROTC Armed Forces Career Officers’ Day (AFCOD) and Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, 20 November 2018 at McCormick Ranch Golf Club Pavilion in Scottsdale, AZ. Cadets will arrive at 10:30 am and the program will begin at 11:30.
For 30 years, our Chapter of AUSA, in coordination with other Valley service organizations, has sponsored this event. It is designed to expose high school Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Cadets to the challenges of a career in the military and the rewards of service to the country. The event focuses on all branches of the Armed Forces, and brings in representatives from commissioning sources such as all the Service Academies, ROTC, various military institutes and Officer Candidate School. Last year we hosted cadets from approximately 30 institutions of learning. Almost 300 JROTC students, educators, sponsors, military members, recruiters, veterans and family members attended. We truly believe that this event only gets better each year.
As you know, it takes a lot of effort to improve on this event from year to year, and we continue to need your help to do so. We hope that you will support this luncheon to offset the costs of hosting the cadets, and to acquaint them with people who have served our country in various capacities.
Individual tickets for this event are $30. Sponsors can buy a full table for $200 (8 seats for cadet-sponsorship, plus 2 seats for sponsor use), or a half table for $100 (4 seats for cadet-sponsorship, plus 1 seat for sponsor use). During the lunch you/or you and your guest will be seated with a group of JROTC Cadets and their instructor(s), and hear two short speeches from young officers talking about their careers and recent experiences in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
The meal will be a traditional Thanksgiving meal, with Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, seasonal vegetables, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Pumpkin pie is the desert. Please indicate if you have special dietary needs in the block provided when you make your reservation.
You may, also, postal or electronically mail in your reservation/checks to our Chapter Treasurer, Ltc (Ret) Ray Boucher, at at 13236 North 7th Street, Suite 4, Box 196, Phoenix, AZ 85022 or to firstname.lastname@example.org or call him at 602-330-4998 with questions or concerns.
We hope that you are able to join us at this wonderful annual event!
Please be patient, as we will open the site for reservations beginning 15 OCT 2018.
