The Army Birthday/Flag Day luncheon will be held on Sunday, the 12th of June at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale. We will be celebrating the 241st Birthday of the United States Army, in addition to Flag Day. The luncheon will include a presentation on the establishment of Flag Day, as well as, a historic recounting of the formation of the US Army. The Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony will be accomplished with a Revolutionary War saber from the military collection of COL (R) A. Park Shaw.
Our event key-note speaker for this event is Matthew K. Scott from the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). The topic of his talk will be the “Selection and Burial of the First Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery”. Re-enactors from the Historic Buffalo Soldier and Pioneers’ Cemetery Association are also be invited to attend this event in period dress.
Our friends and families from all Military Services are encouraged to attend!
As a part of our Chapter being a Vietnam War Commemorative Partner, during the program we will take time to recognize our Vietnam War Veterans and their families. On display will be posters showing each of the services’ – including the US Army – involvement and a timeline of activities in the Vietnam War.
